Kay Davenport

Kay was born in the UK in 1969 and has been painting since she has been a child.

Completely self taught, Kay started painting pet portraits for friends and family for many years, before eventually started painting for a living over 20 years ago.

After many years of creating pet portraits using traditional mediums of oil pastels and watercolours, Kay sought newer mediums to use and eventually found resins dyes inks and pastes which she has been using for the past 7 years. Kay moved to Drymou Village Cyprus 3 years ago and has become a popular figure in the local art community.

Kay says of her latest works: “Encapsulated feelings in vivid colours frozen in time, which allow other people to look into my mind and soul.

My latest works have brought me closer to my objective of successfully placing my innermost thoughts and feelings on to canvas without the constraints I have felt when working with other mediums.

Creating each piece in several layers allows me to encompass all of my energy and pure undiluted emotions and seal them inside a transparent membrane.

When viewed at close quarters, Kay’s artwork is reminiscent of cooled molten glass that contains rivers of vibrant colours, layers of interesting shadows and each step you take towards or backwards from the artwork it seams to take on a “chameleon almost” camouflage as you notice aspects of the painting that you never noticed before.
