My love of fabric and threads has always been an important part of my life, going back to when I first started making my own clothes with a Singer sewing hand machine. Textile design stems from the soul, the beauty and richness of colour-combining in silk design and on fabrics is satisfying on all levels.
Life consisted of scouring markets in London and abroad for unusual fabrics and hidden treasures, including antique beads, materials and various natural objects. My collection grew and grew and I would never throw anything away. Years ago, my life changed when I went to an exhibition at which I was introduced to the word of patchwork, quilting and machine embroidery. I became a contact visitor at exhibitions.
Following this, the natural progression for me was to go back to college. I studied for four years and took my City & Guilds in Machine Embroidery and Textile Design. I was very privileged to be able to study with some of the best teachers and tutors in the United Kingdom, experimenting with a wide range of different mediums and techniques.
My style is now easily recognisable by the use of the vibrant colours and designs incorporated into all my work. With a combination of machine and hand stitching, plus a wide range of yarns, fabrics, beads and ribbons, all the pieces I produce are completely unique. Embellished and hand dyed fabrics, run the entire gamut of embroidery techniques possible, creating beautiful designs, combined with the use of natural elements.
