New Artist - Kay Davenport
We are proud to announce the addition of an exciting young artist, Kay Davenport, to the Art Cart CY portfolio.
Kay's works predominantly incorporate resin as her medium. When viewed at close quarters, Kay’s artwork is reminiscent of
cooled molten glass that contains rivers of vibrant colours, layers of
interesting shadows, and each step you take towards or backwards from
the artwork it seems to take on a “chameleon almost” camouflage as you
notice aspects of the painting that you never noticed before.

New Featured Artist - Immanuel Ola Adebowale
Immanuel Ola Adebowale was born in Lagos Nigeria and now resides in Nicosia with his wife Aneta. He formally studied art for nearly a decade, graduating from the best known Art school in Black Africa, Yaba College of Technology, Yaba Lagos Nigeria with a National Diploma in Fine Arts in the year 1996, and receiving a B.A in Fine/Applied Arts from the University of Benin Nigeria in 1999.
In addition to being an artist, he was also a Fine Art teacher. Eventually he decided to do a masters degree to acquire a wider range of style and experience while exploring the wealth of historic European art, and chose a college here in Cyprus.
Although he could be termed in between a modern expressionist and a modern realist, most of his subject/theme and strong colors can also place him within the classical art category. He enjoys and specialises in heavy textured painting with the unconventional style/method that involves the use of other art tools (excluding brushes and such formal tools), knife and spatula mainly.
His works span a myriad of methods and concepts, and show a gentle yet masterful touch across the various genres occupied by his pieces.

Cyprus artists unite as peace talks begin
Artwork by distinguished artists from both sides of the island will feature prominently at the next meeting of the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus, marking the formal opening of a rolling exhibition accompanying the ongoing peace talks.
The works on display are the creation of the art collective Two/Four/Two: artists Costas Mantzalos, Constantinos Kounnis, Emin Cizenel and Anber Onar.
The works consist of "portraits superimposed on one another, backlit, fusing different personalities to create new identities".
Cizenel and Onar have created an installation specifically for the exhibition, dressing all 17 windows of the main room of the site of the Cyprus peace negotiations with recent photographs of the sunlit faces of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot children.
This is the third series of works in the exhibition, which kicked off on June 1.
Following their meeting in the United Nations Protected Area of Nicosia on September 10, Cyprus President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat will see the works in the presence of all the artists participating in the show as well of the UN Secretary General's Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer.
The exhibition is made possible in part by assistance from the UNDP-ACT programme

Grand Opening of Art Cart CY
We are proud to announce the grand opening of our website, Art Cart CY.
Our goal was to bring a modern, easy-to-use website which would give visitors the opportunity to bring some colour into their lives -- everyone should have the possibility to redecorate and improve their interior themselves.
Art is different things to different people. No two people have the same reaction to a piece of art, and no two pieces of art stem from the same inspiration or creative idea.
We believe that artwork has the ability to undo the negative affects of everyday life by relaxing the mind and purging negative energies through the beauty and mystery of art.
Our first featured artist is Joep Klinkenbijl.
Born in 1951 in Amsterdam - The Netherlands and now residing in Chlorakas - Cyprus, Joep has been painting for 12 years and is entirely self taught. With his inexorable desire to create his images, he has developed a unique style which is instantly recognisable as the artist's signature.
The paintings are mainly abstract and generally portray images set in a group with particular emphasis given to their surroundings. His paintings summon the observers to use their powers of imagination to explore and interpret the meaning behind each individual canvas. Oils and acrylic resin are used on a linen canvas thus creating dynamic and intense colours. The simplicity of the abstract designs identifies Joep's own particularly unique style which he has exhibited in many locations in his native Holland and is well known within the art circuit in the Netherlands.
There is a continuing exhibition of paintings by Joep in Restaurant Palia Poli in Paphos (near the old town hall). Also you can see his work in the gallery in Tala and at his home in Chlorakas, where he will create special commissions. Joep is also the artist behind a unique project in Cyprus. You will find his paintings on the bottles of "The Art Collection" wines. Wines that have been bottled by Tsangarides Winery.
